                 53. Pubbenivasanussatinananiddesavannana
     [105] Pubbenivasanussatinananiddese evam pajanatitiadi catusu
iddhipadesu paribhavitacittassa pubbenivasanussatinanam uppadetukamassa
taduppadanavidhanadassanattham vuttam. Kamato hi paticcasamuppadam passitva vinnana-
namarupasalayatanaphassavedanasankhatam paccuppannam phalasankhepam passati, tassa paccayam purima-
bhave kammakilesasankhatam hetusankhepam passati, tassa paccayam purimabhaveyeva phalasankhepam
passati, tassa paccayam tatiyabhave hetu sankhepam passati. Evam paticcasamuppadadassanena
jatiparamparam passati. Evam bahupakaro pubbenivasanussatinanassa paticcasamuppada-
manasikaro. Tattha "imasmim sati idam hoti, imassuppada idam uppajjati"ti idam
paticcasamuppadaniddesassa uddesavacanam. Etesam annataravacaneneva atthe siddhe dvidha
vacanam kasmati ce? atthananattasabbhavato. Katham? imasmim satiti imasmim
paccaye vijjamane. Idam sabbapaccayanam sadharanavacanam. Idam hotiti idam
paccayuppannam bhavati. Idam sabbapaccayuppannanam hi sadharanavacanam. Imina sakalena
vacanena ahetukavado patisiddho hoti. Ye hi dhamma paccayasambhava honti, na
paccayabhava, te ahetuka nama na hontiti. Imassuppadati imassa paccayassa
uppadahetu. Idam sabbapaccayanam uppadavantata dipanavacanam. Idam uppajjatiti idam
paccayuppannam uppajjati. Idam sabbapaccuppannanam tato uppajjamanatadipanavacanam.
Imina sakalena vacanena sassatahetukavado patisiddho hoti. Ye hi uppadavanto
dhamma, te anicca. Tasma satipi sahetukatte aniccahetuka ete dhamma na
loke niccasammatapakatipurisadihetukati vuttam hoti.
     Yadidanti niddisitabbatthasandassanam. Avijjapaccaya sankharati ettha yam
paticca phalameti, so paccayo. Paticcati na vina, apaccakkhitvati attho. Etiti
Uppajjati ceva pavattati cati attho. Apica upakarakattho paccayattho, avijja
ca sa paccayo cati avijjapaccayo. Tasma avijjapaccaya sankhara sambhavantiti
yojana. Evam sambhavantisaddassa sesapadehipi yojana katabba. Sokadisu ca
socanam soko. Paridevanam paridevo. Dukkhayatiti dukkham. Uppadatthitivasena va
dvedha khanatitipi dukkham. Dumanassa bhavo domanassam. Bhuso ayaso upayaso.
Sambhavantiti nibbattanti. Evanti nidditthanayanidassanam. Tena avijjadiheva
karanehi, na issaranimmanadihiti dasseti. Etassati yathavuttassa.
Kevalassati asammissassa, sakalassa va. Dukkhakkhandhassati dukkhasamuhassa, na
sattassa na sukhasubhadinam. Samudayoti nibbatti. Hotiti sambhavati.
     Tattha katama avijja? dukkhe annanam dukkhasamudaye annanam dukkhanirodhe
Annanam dukkhanirodhagaminiya patipadaya annanam pubbante annanam aparante
annanam pubbantaparante annanam idappaccayatapaticcasamuppannesu dhammesu
annanam. Katame sankhara? punnabhisankharo apunnabhisankharo anenja-
bhisankharo kayasankharo vacisankharo cittasankharo. Attha kamavacarakusalacetana panca
rupavacarakusalacetana punnabhisankharo, dvadasa akusalacetana apunnabhisankharo,
catasso arupavacaracetana anenjabhisankharo. Kayasancetana kayasankharo,
vacisancetana vacisankharo manosancetana cittasankharo.
     Tattha siya:- katham panetam janitabbam "ime sankhara avijjapaccaya
honti"ti? avijjabhave bhavato. Yassa hi dukkhadisu avijjasankhatam annanam
appahinam hoti, so dukkhe tava pubbantadisu ca annanena samsaradukkham
sukhasannaya gahetva tasseva 1- hetubhute tividhepi sankhare arabhati. Samudaye
annanena dukkhahetubhutepi tanhaparikkhare sankhare sukhahetubhute mannamano

Arabhati. Nirodhe pana magge ca annanena dukkhassa anirodhabhutepi gativisese
dukkhanirodhasanni hutva nirodhassa ca amaggabhutesupi yannamaratapadisu
nirodhamaggasanni hutva dukkhanirodham patthayamano yannamaratapadimukhena tividhepi
sankhare arabhati.
     Apica so taya catusu saccesu appahinavijjataya visesato jatijararoga-
maranadianekadinavavokinnampi apunnaphalasankhatam dukkham dukkhato ajananto tassa
adhigamaya kayavacicittasankharabhedam punnabhisankharam arabhati devaccharakamako viya
maruppatam. Sukhasammatassapi ca tassa punnaphalassa ante mahaparilahajanikam parinama-
dukkhatam appassadatanca apassantopi tappaccayam vuttappakarameva punnabhisankharam
arabhati salabho viya dipasikhabhinipatam, madhubindugiddho viya ca madhulittasatthadharalehanam.
Kamupasevanadisu ca vipakesu adinavam apassanto sukhasannaya ceva kilesabhibhutaya
ca dvarattayappavattampi apunnabhisankharam arabhati balo viya guthakilanam, maritukamo
viya visakhadanam. Aruppavipakesu capi sankharaviparinamadukkhatam anavabujjhamano
sassatadivipallasena cittasankharabhutam anenjabhisankharam arabhati disamulho viya
pisacanagarabhimukhamaggagamanam. Evam yasma avijjabhavatova sankharabhavo, na abhavato,
tasma janitabbametam "ime sankhara avijjapaccaya honti"ti.
     Etthaha:- ganhama tava 1- etam "avijja sankharanam paccayo"ti. Kim
panayamekava avijja sankharanam paccayo, udahu annepi paccaya santiti?
kinci panettha 2- yadi tava ekava, ekakaranavado apajjati. Athanne santi,
"avijjapaccaya sankhara"ti ekakarananiddeso nupapajjatiti? na nupapajjati 3-
kasma? yasma:-

     Bhagava hi katthaci padhanatta katthaci pakatatta katthaci asadharanatta
desanavilasassa ca veneyyananca anurupato ekameva hetunca phalanca dipeti.
Tasma ayamidha avijja vijjamanesupi annesu vattharammanasahajatadhammadisu
sankharakaranesu "assadanupassino viharato tanha pavaddhati"ti 1- ca, "avijja-
samudaya asavasamudayo"ti 2- ca vacanato annesampi tanhadinam sankharahetunam hetuti
padhanatta "avidva bhikkhave avijjagato punnabhisankharampi abhisankharo"ti
pakatatta, asadharanatta ca sankharanam hetubhavena dipitati veditabba. Eteneva
ca ekekahetuphaladipanapariharavacanena sabbattha ekekahetuphaladipane payojanam veditabbam.
     Etthaha:- evam santepi ekantanitthaphalaya savajjaya avijjaya katham
punnanenjabhisankharapaccayattam yujjati? na hi nimbabijato ucchu uppajjatiti.
Katham na yujjati? lokasmim hi:-
            viruddho caviruddho ca      sadisasadiso tatha
            dhammanam paccayo siddho     vipaka eva te  ca na.
     Iti ayam avijja vipakavasena ekantanitthaphala, sabhavavasena ca savajjapi
samana sabbesampi etesam punnabhisankharadinam yathanurupam thanakiccasabhavaviruddha-
viruddhapaccayavasena sadisasadisapaccayavasena ca paccayo hotiti veditabbo.

     Sankharapaccaya vinnananti cha vinnanakaya cakkhuvinnanam sotavinnanam
ghanavinnanam jivhavinnanam kayavinnanam manovinnanam. Tattha cakkhuvinnanam
kusalavipakam akusalavipakanti duvidham. Tatha sotaghanajivhakayavinnanani. Dve
vipakamanodhatuyo, tisso ahetukamanovinnanadhatuyo, attha sahetukavipakacittani,
panca rupavacarani, cattari arupavacaraniti bavisatividham. Iti sabbani battimsa
lokiyavipakavinnanani.
     Tattha siya:- katham panetam janitabbam "idam vuttappakaram vinnanam sankhara-
paccaya hoti"ti? upacitakammabhave vipakabhavato. Vipakam hetam, vipakanca na upacita-
kammabhave uppajjati. Yadi uppajjeyya sabbesam sabbavipakani uppajjeyyum,
na ca uppajjantiti janitabbametam "sankharapaccaya idam vinnanam hoti"ti. Sabbameva

Hi idam pavattipatisandhivasena dvedha pavattati. Tattha dve pancavinnanani dve
manodhatuyo somanassasahagatahetukamanovinnanadhatuti imani terasa pancavokarabhave
pavattiyamyeva pavattanti, sesani ekunavisati tisu bhavesu yathanurupam pavattiyampi
patisandhiyam pavattanti.
          Laddhappaccayamiti dhamma-       mattametam bhavantaramupeti
          nassa tato sankanti        na tato hetam vina hoti.
     Iti hetam laddhapaccayam ruparupadhammattam uppajjamanam bhavantaramupetiti vuccati,
na satto ca, jivo. Tassa ca napi atitabhavato idha sankanti atthi, napi
tato hetum vina idha patubhavo. Ettha ca purimam cavanato cuti, pacchimam
bhavantaradipatisandhanato patisandhiti vuccati.
     Etthaha:- nanu evam asankantipatubhave sati ye imasmim manussattabhave
khandha, tesam niruddhatta, phalapaccayassa ca kammassa tattha agamanato, annassa
annato ca tam phalam siya. Upabhunjake ca asati kassa tam phalam siya. Tasma
na sundaramidam vidhananti. Tatridam vuccati:-
          "santane yam phalam etam       nannassa na ca annato,
           bijanam abhisankharo         etassatthassa sadhako.
           Phalassuppattiya eva 1-     siddha bhunjakasammati
           phaluppadena rukkhassa        yatha phalati sammuti"ti.
     Yopi vadeyya "evam santepi ete sankhara vijjamana va phalassa paccaya
siyum avijjamana va. Yadi vijjamana, pavattikkhaneyeva nesam vipakena bhavitabbam.

Athapi avijjamana, pavattito pubbe paccha ca niccam phalavaha siyun"ti so
evam vattabbo:-
          "katta paccaya ete       na ca niccam phalavaha
           patibhogadikam tattha         veditabbam nidassanan"ti. 1-
     Vinnanapaccaya namarupanti idha vedanasannasankharakkhandha namam, cattari
ca mahabhutani catunnanca mahabhutanam upadayarupam rupam. Abhavakagabbhaseyyakanam
andajananca patisandhikkhane vatthudasakam kayadasakanti visati rupani, tayo ca arupino
khandhati ete tevisati dhamma vinnanapaccaya namarupanti veditabba. Sabhavakanam
bhavadasakam pakkhipitva tettimsa, opapatikasattesu brahmakayikadinam patisandhikkhane
cakkhusotavatthudasakani jivitindriyanavakancati ekunacattalisa rupani, tayo ca arupino
khandhati ete dve cattalisa dhamma vinnanapaccaya namarupam. Kamabhave pana
sesaopapatikanam samsedajanam va sabhavakaparipunnayatananam patisandhikkhane
cakkhusotaghanajivhakayavatthubhavadasakaniti tayo ca arupino khandhati ete tesattati
dhamma vinnanapaccaya namarupam. Esa ukkamso. Avakamsena pana tamtamdasakavikalanam
tassa tassa vasena hapetva hapetva patisandhiyam vinnanapaccaya namarupasankhara
veditabba. Arupinam pana tayo arupino khandha, asannanam rupato
jivitindriyanavakamevati. Esa tava patisandhiyam nayo.
     Tattha siya:- katham panetam janitabbam "patisandhinamarupam vinnanapaccaya
hoti"ti? suttato yuttino ca. Sutte hi "cittanuparivattino dhamma"tiadina 2-
nayena bahudha vedanadinam vinnanapaccayata siddha. Yuttito pana:-

           Cittajena hi rupena          idha ditthena sijjhati.
           Aditthassapi rupassa          vinnanam paccayo iti
     namarupapaccaya salayatananti namam vuttameva. Idha pana rupam niyamato cattari
bhutani cha vatthuni jivitindriyanti ekadasavidham. Salayatanam cakkhayatanam sotayatanam
ghanayatanam jivhayatanam kayayatanam manayatanam.
     Tattha siya:- katham panetam janitabbam "namarupam salayatanassa
paccayo"ti? namarupabhave bhavato? tassa tassa hi namassa rupassa ca bhave
tam tam ayatanam hoti, na annathati.
     Salayatanapaccaya phassoti:-
          "../../bdpicture/chaleva phassa sankhepa       cakkhusamphassaadayo
           vinnanamiva battimsa          vittharena bhavanti te.
     Phassapaccaya vedanati:-
           dvarato vedana vutta      cakkhusamphassajadika
           saleva ta pabhedena         idha battimsa vedana.
     Vedanapaccaya tanhati:-
           rupatanhadibhedena           cha tanha idha dipita
           ekeka tividha tattha        pavattakarato mata.
           Dukkhi sukham patthayati           sukhi bhiyyopi icchati
           upekkha pana santatta       sukhamicceva bhasita.
          Tanhaya paccaya tasma        honti tissopi vedana
          vedanapaccaya tanha         iti vutta mahesina.
     Tanhapaccaya upadananti cattari upadanani kamupadanam ditthupadanam
silabbatupadanam attavadupadanam. Upadanapaccaya bhavoti idha kammabhavo
adhippeto. Uppattibhavo pana sadduddharavasena vutto. Bhavapaccaya jatiti
kammabhavapaccaya patisandhikhandhanam patubhavo.
     Tattha siya:- katham panetam janitabbam "bhavo jatiya paccayo"ti ce?
Bahirapaccayasamattepi hinappanitatadivisesadassanato. Bahiranam hi janakajananisukka-
sonitaharadinam paccayanam samattepi sattanam yamakanam yamakanampi satam hinap-
panitatadiviseso dissati. So ca na ahetuko sabbada ca sabbesanca abhavato,
na kammabhavato annahetuko tadabhinibbattakassa sattanam ajjhattasantane annassa
karanassa abhavatoti kammabhavahetukoyeva. Kammam hi sattanam hinappanitatadivisesassa
hetu. Tenaha bhagava "kammam satte vibhajati, yadidam hinappanitataya"ti. 1-
     Jatipaccaya jaramaranantiadisu yasma asati jatiya jaramaranam nama
sokadayo va dhamma na honti, jatiya pana sati jaramarananceva jaramaranasankhata-
dukkhadhammaphutthassa ca balassa jaramaranabhisambandha va tena tena dukkhadhammena
phutthassa anabhisambandha va sokadayo ca dhamma honti, tasma ayam jati
jaramaranassa ceva sokadinanca paccayo hotiti veditabbati.
     So tathabhavitena cittenatiadisu pubbenivasanussatinanayati etassa
nanassa adhigamaya, pattiyati vuttam hoti. Anekavihitanti anekavidham nanappakaram,
anekehi va pakarehi pavattitam, samvannitanti attho. Pubbenivasanti

Samanantaratitam bhavam adim katva tattha tattha nivutthasantanam. Anussaratiti
khandhappatipativasena cutipatisandhivasena va anugantva anugantva sarati. Imam hi
pubbenivasam cha jana anussaranti titthiya pakatisavaka mahasavaka aggasavaka
paccekabuddha buddhati. Tattha titthiya cattalisamyeva kappe anussaranti, na tato
param. Kasma? dubbalapannatta. Tesam hi namarupaparicchedavirahitatta dubbala panna
hoti. Pakatisavaka kappasatampi kappasahassampi anussarantiyeva balavapannatta. Asiti
mahasavaka satasahassam kappe anussaranti. Dve aggasavaka ekamasankhyeyyam
satasahassanca. Paccekabuddha dve asankhyeyyani satasahassanca. Ettako hi tesam
abhiniharo. Buddhanam pana paricchedo nama natthi. Titthiya ca khandhapatipatimeva
saranti, patipatim muncitvava cutipatisandhivasena saritum na sakkonti. Yatha andha
yatthim amuncitva gacchanti, evam te khandhapatipatim amuncitva saranti. Pakatisavaka.
Khandhapatipatiyapi anussaranti, cutipatisandhivasenapi sankamanti, tatha asiti mahasavaka.
Dvinnam pana aggasavakanam khandhapatipatikiccam natthi. Ekassa attabhavassa
cutim disva patisandhim passanti, puna aparassa cutim disva patisandhinti evam
cutipatisandhivaseneva sankamanta gacchanti. Tatha paccekabuddha. Buddhanam pana neva
khandhapatipatikiccam, na cutipatisandhivasena sankamanakiccam atthi. Tesam hi anekasu
kappakotisu hettha va upari va yam yam thanam icchanti, tam pakatameva hoti.
Tasma anekapi kappakotiyo sankhipitva yam yam icchanti, tattha tattheva okkamanta
sihokkantavasena gacchanti. Evam gacchantananca nesam nanam antarantarasu jatisu
asajjamanam icchiticchitatthanameva ganhati.
     Imesu pana chasu pubbenivasam anussarantesu titthiyanam pubbenivasadassanam
khajjopanakappabhasadisam hutva upatthati, pakatisavakanam dipappabhasadisam,
mahasavakanam ukkapabhasadisam, aggasavakanam osadhitarakapabhasadisam, paccekabuddhanam
Candappabhasadisam. Buddhanam rasmisahassapatimanditasaradasuriyamandalasadisam hutva
upatthati. Titthiyanam pubbenivasanussaranam andhanam yatthikotigamanam viya hoti.
Pakatisavakanam dandakasetugamanam viya, mahasavakanam janghasetugamanam viya, aggasavakanam
sakatasetugamanam viya, paccekabuddhanam janghamaggagamanam viya, buddhanam mahasakatamaggagamanam
viya hoti. Imasmim pana adhikare savakanam pubbenivasanussaranam adhippetam.
     Tasma evam anussaritukamena adikammikena bhikkhuna pacchabhattam
pindapatapatikkantena rahogatena patisallinena patipatiya cattari jhanani
samapajjitva abhinnapadakajjhanato vutthaya vuttanayena paticcasamuppadam
paccavekkhitva sabbapacchima nisajja avajjitabba. Tato asanapannapanam
senasanappavesanam pattacivarapatisamanam bhojanakalo gamato agamanakalo game
pindaya calitakalo gamam pindaya pavitthakalo viharato nikkhamanakalo
cetiyabodhivandanakalo pattadhovanakalo pattapatiggahanakalo pattapatiggahanato
yava mukhadhovana katakiccam paccusakale katakiccam majjhimayame pathamayame katakiccanti
evam patilomakkamena sakalam rattindivam katakiccam avajjitabbam. Ettakam pana pakati-
cittassapi pakatam hoti, parikammasamadhicittassa pana atipakatameva. Sace panettha
kinci na pakatam hoti, puna padakajjhanam samapajjitva vutthaya avajjitabbam.
Ettakena dipe jalite viya pakatam hoti. Evam patilomakkameneva dutiyadivasepi
tatiyacatutthapancamadivasesupi dasahepi addhamasepi masepi samvaccharepi katakiccam
avajjitabbam. Eteneva upayena dasa vassani visati vassaniti yava imasmim bhave
attano patisandhi, tava avajjantena purimabhave cutikkhane pavattanamarupam avajjitabbam.
Pahoti hi pandito bhikkhu pathamavareneva patisandhim ugghatetva cutikkhane namarupam
arammanam katum. Yasma pana purimabhave namarupam asesam niruddham, idha annam
uppannam, tasma tam thanam ahundarikam andhatamamiva hoti sududdasam duppannena.
Tenapi "na sakkomaham patisandhim ugghatvea cutikkhane namaruparammanam katun"ti
dhuranikkhepo na katabbo. Tadeva pana padakajjhanam punappunam samapajjitva vutthaya
vutthaya tam thanam avajjitabbam.
     Evam karonto hi seyyathapi nama balava puriso kutagarakannikatthaya
maharukkham chindanto sakhapalasacchedanamatteneva pharasudharaya vipannaya
maharukkham chinditum asakkontopi dhuranikkhepam akatvava kammarasalam gantva tikhinam
pharasum karapetva puna agantva chindeyya, puna vipannaya ca punapi tatheva
karetva chindeyya,  so evam chindanto chinnassa chinnassa puna chettabbabhavato
achinnassa ca chedanato nacirasseva maharukkham pateyya, evameva padakajjhana
vutthaya pubbe avajjitam anavajjitva patisandhimeva avajjanto tam nacirasseva
patisandhim ugghatetva cutikkhane namarupam arammanam kareyyati. Tattha pacchima-
nisajjato pabhuti yava patisandhito arammanam katva pavattananam pubbenivasananam
nama na hoti, tam pana parikammasamadhinanam nama hoti. "atitamsananan"tipetam
eke vadanti. Tam atitamsananassa rupavacaratta rupavacaram sandhaya vacanam na yujjati.
Yada panassa bhikkhuno patisandhim atikkamma cutikkhane pavattam namarupam arammanam
katva manodvaravajjanam uppajjitva pubbe vuttanayena appanacittam uppajjati,
tadassa tena cittena sampayuttam nanam pubbenivasanussatinanam nama. Tena
nanena sampayuttaya satiya pubbenivasam anussarati.
     Tattha seyyathidanti araddhappakaradassanatthe nipato. Teneva yvayam pubbe-
nivaso araddho, tassa pakarappabhedam dassento ekampi jatintiadimaha.
Tattha ekampi jatinti ekampi patisandhimulam cutipariyosanam ekabhavapariyapannam
khandhasantanam. Esa nayo dve jatiyotiadisu. Anekepi samvattakappetiadisu pana
parihayamano kappo samvattakappo tada sabbesam brahmaloke sannipatanato.
Vaddhamano kappo vivattakappo tada brahmalokato sattanam vivattanato. Tattha
samvattena samvattatthayi gahito hoti. Tammulatta. Vivattena ca vivattatthayi. Evam
hi sati "cattarimani bhikkhave kappassa asankhyeyyani. Katamani cattari, yada
bhikkhave kappo samvattati, tam na sukaram sankhatum yada bhikkhave kappo samvatto
titthati, tam .pe. Yada bhikkhave kappo vivattati .pe. Yada bhikkhave kappo
vivatto titthati, na sukaram sankhatun"ti 1- vuttani cattari asankhyeyyani
pariggahitani honti.
     Tattha tayo samvatta tejosamvatto aposamvatto vayosamvattoti. Tisso
samvattasima abhassara subhakinha vehapphalati. Yada kappo tejena samvattati,
abhassarato hettha aggina dayhati. Yada apena samvattati, subhakinhato hettha
udakena viliyati. Yada vayuna samvattati. Vehapphalato hettha vatena viddhamsiyati.
Vittharato pana sadapi ekam buddhakkhettam vinassati. Buddhakkhettam nama tividham
hoti jatikkhettam anakkhettam visayakkhettanca. Tattha jatikkhettam dasasahassa-
cakkavalapariyantam hoti, yam tathagatassa patisandhiggahanadisu kampati. Anakkhettam
kotisatasahassacakkavalapariyantam, yattha ratanaparittam khandhaparittam dhajaggaparittam
atanatiyaparittam moraparittanti imesam parittanam anubhavo vattati.
Visayakkhettam anantamaparimanam, yam "yavata va pana akankheyya"ti 2- vuttam. Tattha
yam yam tathagato akankhati, tam tam janati. Evametesu tisu buddhakkhettesu ekam
anakkhettam vinassati. Tasmim pana vinassante jatikkhettam vinatthameva hoti,
vinassantanca ekatova vinassati, santhahantanca ekato va santhahati.
     Tassevam vinaso ca santhahananca veditabbam:- yasmim samaye kappo aggina
nassati, aditova kappavinasakamahamegho vutthahitva kotisatasahassacakkavale ekam

Mahavassam vassati. Manussa tuttha sabbabijani niharitva vapanti. Sassesu pana
gokhayitamattesu jatesu gadrabharavam ravanto ekabindumattampi na vassati, tada
pacchinnameva vassam hoti. Vassupajivino satta kamena brahmaloke nibbattanti,
pupphaphalupajiviniyo 1- ca devata. Evam dighe addhane vitivatte tattha tattha udakam
parikkhayam gacchati, athanukkamena macchakacchapapi kalam katva brahmaloke nibbattanti,
nerayikasattapi. Tattha "nerayika sattamasuriyapatubhave vinassati"ti eke. Jhanam
vina natthi brahmaloke nibbatti, etesanca keci dubbhikkhapilita, keci abhabba
ca jhanadhigamaya, te katham tattha nibbattantiti? devaloke patiladdhajhanavasena.
Tada hi "vassasatasahassassa accayena kappavutthanam bhavissati"ti lokabyuha nama
kamavacaradeva muttasira vikkinnakesa rudamukha assuni hatthehi punchamana
rattavatthanivattha ativiyavirupavesadharino hutva manussapathe vicaranta evam arocenti
"marisa ito vassasatasahassassa accayena kappavutthanam bhavissati, ayam loko
vinassissati, mahasamuddopi assussissati, ayanca mahapathavi sineru ca pabbataraja
uddayhissanti vinassissanti, yava brahmaloka lokavinaso bhavissati, mettam
marisa bhavetha, karunam, muditam, upekkham marisa bhavetha, mataram upatthahatha, pitaram
upatthahatha, kule jetthapacayino hotha"ti. Tesam vacanam sutva yebhuyyena manussa ca
bhumma deva ca samvegajata annamannam muducitta hutva mettadini punnani
karitva devaloke nibbattanti. Tattha dibbasudhabhojanam bhunjitva vayokasine
parikammam katva jhanam patilabhanti. Tadanne pana aparapariyavedaniyena kammena devaloke
nibbattanti. Aparapariyavedaniyakammarahito hi samsare samsaranto nama satto natthi. Tepi
tattha tattheva jhanam patilabhanti. Evam devaloke patiladdhajjhanavasena sabbepi brahmaloke
nibbattantiti.

     Vassupacchedato pana uddham dighassa addhuno accayena dutiyo suriyo patubhavati,
tasmim patubhute neva rattiparicchedo, na divasaparicchedo pannayati. Eko suriyo
udeti. Eko attham gacchati, avicchinnasuriyasantapova loko hoti. Yatha ca pakatisuriye
suriyadevaputto hoti, evam kappavinasasuriye natthi. Tattha pakatisuriye vattamane
akase valahakapi dhumasikhapi caranti. Kappavinasakasuriye vattamane vigatadhumavalahakam
adasamandalam viya nimmalam nabham hoti. Thapetva panca mahanadiyo sesakunnadiadisu
udakam sussati.
     Tatopi dighassa addhuno accayena tatiyo suriyo patubhavati, yassa patubhava
mahanadiyopi sussanti.
     Tatopi dighassa addhuno accayena catuttho suriyo patubhavati, yassa patubhava
himavati mahanadinam pabhava "sihappatano hamsapatano kannamundako rathakadaho
anotattadaho chaddantadaho kunaladaho"ti ime satta mahasara sussanti.
     Tatopi dighassa addhuno accayena pancamo suriyo patubhavati, yassa patubhava
anupubbena mahasamudde angulipabbatemanamattampi udakam na santhati.
     Tatopi dighassa addhuno accayena chattho suriyo patubhavati, yassa patubhava
sakalacakkavalam ekadhumam hoti pariyadinnasineham dhumena. Yatha cidam, evam
kotisatasahassacakkavalanipi.
     Tatopi dighassa addhuno accayena sattamo suriyo patubhavati, yassa patubhava
sakalacakkavalam ekajalam hoti saddhim kotisatasahassacakkavalehi. Yojanasatikadibhedani
sinerukutanipi palujjitva akaseyeva antaradhayanti. Sa aggijala utthahitva
catumaharajike ganhati. Tattha kanakavimanaratanavimanamanivimanani jhapetva tava
timsabhavanam ganhati. Eteneva upayena yava pathamajjhanabhumim ganhati. Tattha tayopi
Brahmaloke jhapetva abhassare ahacca titthati. Sa yava anumattampi sankharagatam
atthi, tava na nibbayati. Sabbasankharaparikkhaya pana sappitelajhanaggisikha viya
charikampi anavasesetva nibbayati. Hetthaakasena saha upariakaso eko
hoti mahandhakaro.
     Atha dighassa addhuno accayena mahamegho utthahitva pathamam sukhumam sukhumam
vassati. Anupubbena kumudanalayatthimusalatalakkhandhadippamanahi dharahi vassanto
kotisatasahassacakkavalesu sabbam daddhatthanam puretva antaradhayati. Tam udakam hettha
ca tiriyanca vato samutthahitva ghanam karoti. Parivatumam paduminipatte udakabindusadisam.
Katham tava mahantam udakarasim ghanam karotiti ce? vivarasampadanato. Tam hissa
Tahim tahim 1- vivaram deti. Tam evam vatena sampindiyamanam ghanam kariyamanam parikkhayamanam
anupubbena hettha otarati. Otinne otinne udake brahmalokatthane
brahmaloka, upari catukamavacaradevalokatthane ca devaloka patubhavanti.
Purimapathavitthanam otinne pana balavavata uppajjanti. Te tam pihitadvare dhamakarane
thitaudakamiva nirussasam katva rumbhanti. Madhurodakam parikkhayam gacchamanam upari rasapathavim
samutthapeti. Sa vannasampanna ceva hoti gandharasasampanna ca nirudakapayasassa
upari patalam viya. Tada ca abhassarabrahmaloke pathamatarabhinibbatta satta ayukkhaya
va punnakkhaya va tato cavitva idha uppajjanti. Te honti sayampabha
antalikkhacaRa. Te aggannasutte 2- vuttanayena tam rasapathavim sayitva tanhabhibhuta
aluppakarakam paribhunjitum upakkamanti.
     Atha tesam sayampabha antaradhayati, andhakaro hoti. Te andhakaram disva
bhayanti. Tato nesam bhayam nasetva surabhavam janayantam paripunnapannasayojanam

Suriyamandalam patubhavati. Te tam disva "alokam patilabhimaha"ti hatthatuttha hutva
"amhakam bhitanam bhayam nasetva surabhavam janayanto utthito, tasma suriyo hotu"ti
suriyotvevassa namam karonti. Atha suriye divasam alokam katva atthangate "yampi
alokam labhimha, sopi no nattho"ti puna bhita honti, tesam evam hoti "sadhu
vatassa sace annam alokam labheyyama"ti. Tesam cittam natva viya ekunapannasayojanam
candamandalam patubhavati. Te tam disva bhiyyoso mattaya hatthatuttha hutva "amhakam
chandam natva viya utthito, tasma cando hotu"ti candotvevassa namam karonti.
     Evam candimasuriyesu patubhutesu nakkhattani tarakarupani patubhavanti. Tato
pabhuti rattindiva pannayanti anukkamena ca masaddhamasautusamvacchaRa. Candimasuriyanam
pana patubhutadivaseyeva sinerucakkavalahimavantapabbata patubhavanti. Te ca kho apubbam
acarimam phaggunapunnamadivaseyeva patubhavanti. Katham? yatha nama kangubhatte paccamane
ekappahareneva pubbulaka 1- utthahanti, eke padesa thupathupa honti eke
ninnaninna eke samasama, evameva thupathupatthane pabbata honti ninnaninnatthane
samudda samasamatthane dipati.
     Atha tesam sattanam rasapathavim paribhunajantanam kamena ekacce vannavanato,
ekacce dubbanna honti. Tattha vannavanto dubbanne atimannanti. Tesam
atimanapaccaya sapi rasapathavi antaradhayati, bhumipappatako patubhavati. Atha tesam
teneva nayena sopi antaradhayati padalata 2- patubhavati. Teneva nayena sapi
antaradhayati, akatthapako sali patubhavati akano athuso suddho sugandho
tandulapphalo. Tato nesam bhajanani uppajjanti. Te salim bhajane thapetva
pasanapitthiyam thapenti. Sayameva jalasikha utthahitva tam pacati. So hoti odano
sumanajatipupphasadiso. Na tassa supena va byanjanena va karaniyam atthi, yamyamrasam

Bhunjitukama honti, tamtamrasova hoti. Tesam tam olarikam aharam aharayatam tato
pabhuti muttakarisam sanjayati. Atha nesam tassa nikkhamanatthaya vanamukhani pabhijjanti.
Purisassa purisabhavo, itthiya itthibhavo patubhavati. Tatra sudam itthi purisam,
puriso ca itthim ativelam upanijjhayati. Tesam ativelam upanijjhayanapaccaya
kamaparilaho uppajjati. Tato methunadhammam patisevanti. Te asaddhammapatisevanapaccaya
vinnuhi garahiyamana vihethiyamana tassa asaddhammassa paticchadanahetu agarani karonti.
Te agaram ajjhavasamana anukkamena annatarassa alasajatikassa sattassa
ditthanugatim apajjanta sannidhim karonti. Tato pabhuti kanopi thusopi tandulam
pariyonaddhati, layitatthanampi na pativiruhati, te sannipatitva anutthunanti "papaka
vata bho dhamma sattesu patubhuta, mayam hi pubbe manomaya ahumha"ti
aggannasutte 1- vuttanayena vittharetabbam. Tato mariyadam thapetanti.
     Atha annataro satto annassa bhagam adinnam adiyati. Tam dvikkhattum
paribhasitva tatiyavare panileddudandehi paharanti. Te evam adinnadanagaraha-
musavadadandadanesu uppannesu sannipatitva cintayanti "yannuna mayam ekam
sattam sammanneyyama, yo no samma khiyitabbam khiyeyya, garahitabbam garaheyya,
pabbajetabbam pabbajeyya, mayam panassa salinam bhagam anuppadassama"ti. Evam
katasannitthanesu pana sattesu imasmim tava kappe ayameva bhagava bodhisattabhuto
tena samayena tesu sattesu abhirupataro ca dassaniyataro ca mahesakkhataro ca buddhi-
sampanno patibalo niggahapaggaham katum. Te tam upasankamitva yacitva sammannimsu.
So "tena mahajanena sammatoti mahasammato, khettanam adhipatiti khattiyo, dhammena
samena paresam ranjetiti raja"ti tihi namehi pannayittha. Yam hi loke
acchariyatthanam, bodhisattova tattha adipurisoti. Evam bodhisattam adim katva

Khattiyamandale santhite anupubbena brahmanadayopi vanna santhahimsu. Tattha
kappavinasakamahameghato yava jalapacchedo, idamekamasankhyeyyam samvattoti
vuccati. Kappavinasakajalapacchedato yava kotisatasahassacakkavalaparipurato sampatti-
mahamegho, idam dutiyamasankhyeyyam samvattatthayiti vuccati. Sampattimahameghatova yava
candimasuriyapatubhavo, idam tatiyamasankhyeyyam vivattoti vuccati. Candimasuriya-
patubhavato yava puna kappavinasakamahamegho, idam catutthasankhyeyyam vivattatthayiti
vuccati. Imani cattari asankhyeyyani eko mahakappo hoti. Evam tava aggina
vinaso ca santhahananca veditabbam.
     Yasmim pana samaye kappo udakena nassati, aditova kappavinasakamahamegho
utthahitvati pubbe vuttanayeneva vittharetabbam. Ayam pana viseso:- yatha
tattha dutiyo suriyo, evamidha kappavinasako kharudakamahamegho utthati. So adito
sukhumam vassanto anukkamena mahadharahi kotisatasahassacakkavalanam 1- purento vassati.
Kharudakena phutthaphuttha pathavipabbatadayo viliyanti. Udakam samantato vatehi dhariyati.
Pathavito yava dutiyajjhanabhumim udakam ganhati, tattha tayopi brahmaloke viliyapetva
subhakinhe ahacca titthati. Tam yava anumattampi sankharagatam atthi, tava na
vupasamati. Udakanugatam pana sabbasankharagatam abhibhavitva sahasa vupasamati, antaradhanam
gacchati. Hetthakasena saha upariakaso eko hoti mahandhakaroti sabbam vuttasadisam.
Kevalam panidha abhassarabrahmalokam adim katva loko patubhavati. Subhakinhato ca
cavitva abhassaratthanadisu satta nibbattanti. Tattha kappavinasakamahameghato
yava kappavinasakakharudakupacchedo, idamekam asankhyeyyam. Udakupacchedato yava
sampattimahamegho, idam dutiyamasankhyeyyam. Sampattimahameghato .pe. Imani cattari
asankhyeyyani eko mahakappo hoti. Evam udakena vinaso ca santhahananca
veditabbam.

utthapeti, tato sanharajam sukhumavalikam thulavalikam sakkharapasanadayoti yava
kutagaramatte pasane visamatthane thitamaharukkhe ca utthapeti. Te pathavito
nabhamuggata na puna patanti, tattheva cunnavicunna hutva abhavam gacchanti.
Athanukkamena hetthamahapathaviya vato samutthahitva pathavim parivattetva uddham
mulam katva akase khipati. Yojanasatappamana pathavippadesa dviyojanatiyojana-
catuyojanapancayojanasatappamanapi bhijjitva vatavegukkhitta akaseyeva
cunnavicunna hutva abhavam gacchanti. Cakkavalapabbatampi sinerupabbatampi vato
ukkhipitva akase khipati. Te annamannam abhihantva cunnavicunna hutva
vinassanti. Eteneva upayena bhummatthakavimanani ca akasatthakavimanani ca
vinasento chakamavacaradevaloke vinasetva kotisatasahassacakkavalani vinaseti.
Tattha cakkavala cakkavalehi, himavanta himavantehi, sineru sineruhi annamannam
samagantva cunnavicunna hutva vinassanti. Pathavito yava tatiyajjhanabhumim
vato ganhati, tattha tayo brahmaloke vinasetva vehapphale ahacca titthati.
Evam sabbasankharagatam vinasetva sayampi vinassati. Hetthaakasena saha
upariakaso eko hoti mahandhakaroti sabbam vuttasadisam. Idha pana subhakinha-
brahmalokam adim katva loko patubhavati. Vehapphalato ca cavitva subhakinhatthanadisu
satta nibbattanti. Tattha kappavinasakamahameghato yava kappavinasakavatupacchedo,
idamekam asankhyeyyam. Vatupacchedato yava sampattimahamegho, idam dutiyamasankhyeyyam
.pe. Imani cattari asankhyeyyani eko mahakappo hoti. Evam vatena vinaso
ca santhahananca veditabbam.
     Kimkarana evam loko vinassati? akusalamulakarana. Akusalamulesu hi ussannesu
evam loko vinassati. So ca kho rage ussannatare aggina vinassati, dose
ussannatare udakena vinassati. Keci pana "dose ussannatare aggina, rage
udakena"ti vadanti. Mohe ussannatare vatena vinassati, evam vinassantopi ca
nirantarameva satta vare aggina nassati, atthame vare udakena. Puna satta
vare aggina, atthame vare udakenati evam atthame atthame vare vinassanto
sattakkhattum udakena vinassitva puna satta vare aggina nassati. Ettavata
tesatthi kappa atita honti. Etthantare udakena nassanavaram sampattampi
patibahitva laddhokaso vato paripunnacatusatthikappayuke subhakinhe viddhamsento
lokam vinaseti.
     Pubbenivasam anussarantopi ca kappanussaranako bhikkhu etesu kappesu
anekepi samvattakappe anekepi vivattakappe anekepi samvattavivattakappe anussarati.
Samvattakappe vivattakappeti ca kappassa addham gahetva vuttam. Samvattavivatta-
kappeti sakalakappam gahetva vuttam. Katham anussaratiti ce? amutrasintiadina
nayena. Tattha amutrasinti amumhi samvattakappe aham amumhi bhave va yoniya
va gatiya va vinnanatthitiya va sattavase va sattanikaye va asim.
Evamnamoti tisso va pusso va. Evamgottoti kaccano va kassapo va.
Idamassa atitabhave attano namagottanussaranavasena vutta. Sace pana tasmim kale
attano vannasampattim va lukhapanitajivitabhavam va sukhadukkhabahulatam va appayuka-
dighayukabhavam va anussaritukamo, hoti tampi anussaratiyeva. Tenaha "evamvanno
.pe. Evamayupariyanto"ti. Tattha evamvannoti odato va samo va. Evamaharoti
salimamsodanaharo va pavattaphalabhojano va. Evamsukhadukkhappatisamvediti
anekappakarena kayikacetasikanam samisaniramisadippabhedanam va sukhadukkhanam
Patisamvedi. Evamayupariyantoti evam vassasataparimanayupariyanto va
caturasitikappasatasahassayupariyanto va.
     So tato cuto amutra udapadinti so aham tato bhavato yonito gatito
vinnanatthitito sattavasato sattanikayato va cuto puna amukasmim nama bhave
yoniya gatiya vinnanatthitiya sattavase sattanikaye va udapadim. Tatrapasinti
atha tatrapi bhave yoniya gatiya vinnanatthitiya sattavase sattanikaye va
puna ahosim. Evamnamotiadi vuttanayameva. Apica yasma amutrasinti idam
anupubbena arohantassa yavaticchakam 1- anussaranam, so tato cutoti patinivattantassa
paccavekkhanam, tasma idhupapannoti imissa idhupapattiya anantaramevassa
upapattitthanam sandhaya amutra udapadinti idam vuttanti veditabbam.
Tatrapasinti evamadi panassa tatra imissa upapattiya anantare upapattitthane
namagottadinam anussaranadassanattham vuttam. So cuto idhupapannoti svaham tato
anantarupapattitthanato cuto idha amukasmim nama khattiyakule va brahmanakule
va nibbattoti. Ititi evam. Sakaram sauddesanti namagottavasena sauddesam,
vannadivasena sakaram. Namagottena hi satto tisso phusso kassapoti
uddisiyati, vannadihi samo odatoti nanattato pannayati. Tasma namagottam
uddeso. Itare akarati.
                Pubbenivasanussatinananiddesavannana nitthita.
