                       Parantapajatakam
     agamissati me papanti idam sattha veluvane viharanto
devadattassa vadhaya parisakkanam arabbha kathesi.
     Tada hi dhammasabhayam katham samutthapesum avuso devadatto
tathagatassa maranatthameva parisakkati dhanuggahe payojesi silam
pativijjhi nalagirim vissajjapesi tathagatassa vinasanatthameva
upayam karotiti. Sattha agantva kaya nuttha bhikkhave
etarahi kathaya sannisinnati pucchitva imaya namati vutte
na bhikkhave idaneva vadhaya parisakkati pubbepesa mama vadhaya
parisakkitva tasamattampi pana katum asakkonto attanova dukkham
anubhotiti vatva atitam ahari
     atite baranasiyam brahmadatte rajjam karente bodhisatto
tassa aggamahesiya kucchimhi nibbattitva vayappatto takkasilayam
sabbasippani sikkhati sabbarudamantam ugganhi. So acariyassa
anuyogam datva baranasiyam paccagacchi. Pita tam uparajje
thapesi. Kincapi uparajje thapesi marapetukamo pana hutva
nam datthumpi na icchi. Athekadivasam eka sigali dve puttake
gahetva rattim manussesu patisallinesu niddhamanena nagaram pavisi.
Bodhisattassa pasade sayanagabbhapasse eka sala atthi.
Tattheko addhikamanusso upahana omuncitva padamule bhumiyam
thapetva ekasmim phalake nipajji na tava niddayati. Tada
sigaliya dve potaka chata viravimsu. Atha ne sa mata ma
tava saddam karittha etissa salaya eko manusso upahana
omuncitva bhumiyam thapetva phalake nipanno na tava niddayati
etassa niddayanakale eta upahana aharitva tumhe khadapessamiti
attano bhasaya aha. Bodhisatto mantanubhavena tassa bhasam
janitva sayanagabbha nikkhamma vatapanam vivaritva ko etthati
aha. Itaro aham deva addhikamanussoti. Upahana te
kahanti. Bhumiyam devati. Ukkhipitva olambitva thapehiti.
Tam sutva sigali bodhisattassa kujjhi. Punekadivasam sa tatheva
nagaram pavisi. Tada eko manusso paniyam pivissamiti pokkharanim
otaranto patito nimuggo nirussaso mari. Nivattha panassa
dve sataka nivasanantare kahapanasahassam anguliya ca muddika
atthi. Tadapi sa puttake chatamha ammati viravante tata
ma saddam karittha etissa pokkharaniya manusso mato tassa
idancidanca atthi so pana maritva sopaneyeva nipanno
tumhe etam manussam khadapessamiti aha. Bodhisatto tam sutva
vatapanam vivaritva salaya ko atthiti vatva ekenutthaya aham
devati vutte gaccha etissa pokkharaniya matapurisassa satake
ca kahapanasahassanca angulimuddikanca gahetva sariramassa yatha
Na utthati evam udake osidapehiti aha. So tatha akasi.
Sa puna kujjhitva purimadivase me puttakanam upahanani khaditum
nadasi ajja matamanussam khaditum na deti hotu ito dani
tatiyadivase eko samantaraja agantva nagaram parikkhipissati
atha nam pita yuddhatthaya pesessati tatra te sisam chindissati
atha te galalohitam pivitva veram muncissami tvam maya saddhim
veram bandhasi janissamiti viravitva bodhisattam tajjetva puttake
gahetva nikkhami. Tatiyadivase samantaraja agantva nagaram
parivaresi. Raja bodhisattam gaccha tata etena saddhim yujjhahiti
aha. Maya deva ekam dittham atthi gantum na visahami
jivitantaraya bhayamiti . Mayham tayi mate va amate va kim
gaccheva tvanti. So sadhu devati mahasatto parisam gahetva
samantaranno thitadvarena anikkhamitva annam dvaram vivarapetva
nikkhami. Tasmim gacchante sakalanagaram tuccham viya ahosi. Sabbe
teneva saddhim nikkhamimsu. So ekasmim sabhagatthane khandhavaram
nivasapetva acchi. Raja cintesi uparaja nagaram tuccham katva
balam gahetva palayi samantarajapi nagaram parivaretva thito
idani mayham jivitam natthi. So jivitam rakkhissamiti devinca
purohitanca parantapannama ekam padamulikam gahetva rattibhage
annatakavesena palayitva arannam pavisi. Bodhisatto tassa
palayanabhavam sutva nagaram pavisitva yuddham katva samantarajanam
Palapetva rajjam ganhi. Pitapissa ekasmim naditire pannasalam
karetva phalaphalena yapento vasi. Raja ca purohito ca
phalaphalatthaya gacchanti. Parantapadaso ranno deviya saddhim
pannasalayameva hoti. Tatrapi rajanam paticca deviya kucchismim
gabbho patitthahi. Sa abhinhasamsaggavasena parantapena saddhim
aticari. Sa ekadivasam parantapam aha ranna nate neva tava
na mayham jivitam atthi tasma marehi nanti. Katham maremiti.
Esa tam khagganca nahanasatakanca gahapetva nahayitum gacchati
tatrassa nahanatthane pamadam oloketva khaggena sisam chinditva
sariram khandakhandikam katva bhumiyam nikkhanahiti. So sadhuti
sampaticchi. Athekadivasam purohitoyeva phalaphalatthaya gantva avidure
ranno nahanatitthasamante ekam rukkham aruyha phalaphalam ganhati.
Raja nahayissamiti parantapam khagganca nahanasatakanca gahapetva
naditiram agamasi. Tatrapi nahanakale pamadamapannam maressamiti
parantapo tam givayam gahetva khaggam ukkhipi. So maranabhayena
viravi. Purohito tam saddam sutva olokento parantapam rajanam
marentam disva bhitatasito sakham vissajjetva rukkhato oruyha
ekam gumbam pavisitva nisidi. Parantapo tassa sakhavissajjanasaddam
sutva rajanam maretva bhumiyam nikkhanitva imasmim thane sakha-
vissajjanasaddo ahosi ko nu kho etthati vicinanto kinci
adisva nahatva gato. Tassa gatakale purohito nisinnatthane
Nikkhamitva ranno sariram khandakhandikam chinditva avate
nikkhatabhavam natva nahatva attano vadhabhayena andhavesam gahetva
pannasalam agamasi. Tam disva parantapo kim te brahmana
katanti aha. So ajananto viya deva dve akkhini nasetva
agatomhi ussannasivise aranne ekasmim vammikapasse atthasim
tatrekena asivisena nasavato vissattho bhavissatiti. Parantapo
na mam sanjanati devati vadati samassasessami nanti brahmana
ma cintayi aham tam patijaggissamiti assasetva phalaphalam datva
santappesi. Tato patthaya parantapadaso phalaphalam aharati.
Devi puttam vijayi. Sa putte vaddhante ekadivasam paccusasamaye
sukham nipanna sanikam parantapadasam avoca tvam rajanam marento
na kenaci ditthoti. Na mam koci addasa apica sakhavissatthasaddam
pana assosim tassa sakhaya manussena va tiracchanena va
vissatthabhavam na janami yada kadaci pana mayham bhayam agacchati
yena sakha vissattha tato agamissatiti taya saddhim sallapanto
pathamam gathamaha
        agamissati me papam      agamissati me bhayam
        tada hi calita sakha     manussena migena vati.
     Tattha papanti lamakam anittham akantam. Bhayanti cittutrasabhayampi
me agamissati na sakka anagantum. Kimkarana. Tada hi
calita sakha pana manussena migena vati na pannayati tasma
Tato mam bhayam agamissateva.
     Te purohito niddayatiti mannimsu. So pana aniddayantova
tesam katham assosi. Athekadivasam purohito parantapadase phalaphalatthaya
gate attano brahmanim saritva vilapanto viya dutiyagathamaha
         bhiruya nuna me kamo      avidure vasantiya
         karissati kisam pandum         sava sakha parantapanti.
     Tattha bhiruyati itthi nama appamattakenapi bhayanti tasma
bhiruti vuccati. Avidureti natidure ito katipayayojanamatthake
vasantiya bhiruya mayham brahmaniya mama kamo uppanno.
Sa nuna mam kisanca pandunca karissatiti dasseti. Sava
sakhati imina pana upamam dassento yatha sakha parantapam kisam
pandum karoti evanti attho. Iti brahmano gathameva vadati.
Attham pana na kathesi. Tasma imaya gathaya kiccam deviya
apakatam.
     Atha nam kim kathesi brahmanati aha. Sopi sallakkhita-
mevati vatva punekadivasam tatiyam gathamaha
         socayissati mam kanta       game vasam anindita
         karissati kisam pandum         sava sakha parantapanti.
     Tattha socayissatiti sokuppadanena sukkhapessati. Kantati
itthabhariya. Game vasanti baranasiyam vasantiti adhippayo.
Aninditati agarahita uttamarupadhara.
     Punekadivasam catuttham gathamaha
          taya mam hasitapangi       mihitani bhanitani ca
          kisam pandum karissati        sava sakha parantapanti.
     Tattha taya mam hasitapangiti taya mam hi asitaapangi. Idam
vuttam hoti bhadde akkhikotito anjanasalakaya niharitva abhisankhata-
asitapangi taya pavattitani mandahasitani ca madhurabhanitani ca
maya vissatthasakha vicaramana parantapam viya kisam pandum karissatiti.
Cakaram pakaram katva pangitipi pathoyeva.
     Aparabhage kumaro vayappatto ahosi solasavassuddesiko.
Atha nam brahmano yatthikotim gahapetva nahanatittham gantva
akkhini ummiletva olokesi. Kumaro nanu tvam brahmana
andhoti aha. So naham andho imina panupayena jivitam
rakkhamiti vatva tava pitaram janasiti aha. Ama janami ayam
so mayham pitati vutte nayam tava pita pita pana te baranasiraja
ayam tumhakam daso so matari te vippatipajjitva imasmim
thane tava pitaram maretva nikkhaniti atthini niharitva dassesi.
Kumarassa balavakodho uppajji. Atha nam idani kim karomiti
vutte yante imasmimyeva titthe pitu tena katam tam karohiti
sabbam pavattim acikkhitva kumaram katipaham tharugahanam sikkhapesi.
Athekadivasam kumaro khagganca nahanasatakanca gahetva nahayitum
Gacchama tatati aha. Parantapo sadhuti tena saddhim gato.
Athassa nahayitum otinnakale dakkhinahatthena asim vamahatthena
culam gahetva tvam kira imasminneva titthe mama pitaram culaya
gahetva viravantam maresi ahampi tam tatheva karissamiti aha.
So maranabhayabhito paridevamano dve gatha abhasi
      agama nuna so saddo      asamsi nuna so tava
      akkhatam nuna tam tena       yo tam sakhamakampayi.
      Idam kho tam samagamma       mama balassa cintitam
      tada hi calita sakha      manussena migena vati.
     Tattha agamati so sakhaya saddo nuna tam agato sampatto.
Asamsi nuna so tavati so saddo tava arocesi manne.
Akkhatam nuna tam tenati yo satto tada tam sakham akampayi
tena evam te pita maritoti nuna tam karanam akkhatam.
Samagammati sangamma samagatanti attho. Yam mama balassa tada
calita sakha manussena migena vati tato me bhayam uppajjissatiti
cittikam parivitakkitam ahosi idam maya saddhim samagatanti vuttam hoti.
     Tato kumaro osanagathamaha
       tatheva tvam avedasi        avanci pitaram mama
       gantva sakhahi chadento  agamissati te bhayanti.
     Tattha tatheva tvam avedasiti tatheva tvam annasi. Avanci
pitaram mamati tvam hi mama pitaram nahayitum gacchamati vissasetva
Nahayantam maretva khandakhandikam chinditva nikkhanitva sace
koci janissati mayhampi evarupam bhayam agamissatiti vancesi idam
kho pana maranabhayam idani tavagatanti.
     Iti vatva nam tattheva jivitakkhayam papetva nikkhanitva
sakhaya paticchadetva khaggam dhovitva nahatva pannasalam gantva
maritabhavam purohitassa kathetva mataram paribhasi. Idha kim karissamati
tayopi jana baranasimeva agamamsu. Bodhisatto kanitthassa uparajjam
datva danadini punnani katva saggapadam puresi.
     Sattha imam dhammadesanam aharitva saccani pakasetva
jatakam samodhanesi tada pitaraja devadatto ahosi purohito
anando puttaraja pana ahamevati.
                  Parantapajatakam ekadasamam.
                   Gandharavaggo dutiyo.
                 Sattakanipatavannana nitthita.
